Membership Benefits
Membership Fee
- Fee: $10 CAD per year
- Validity: Valid until June 30 each year (renew annually on July 1)
- Payment Method: Fees collected via Zeffy (no extra charges)
How to Become a Member
Joining SMA as a member is simple:
- Click the “Become a Member” button below
- Fill out your details in the membership form
- Pay the $10 annual fee
- You'll receive confirmation and a welcome email from SMA
💡 You can still be a volunteer or supporter without becoming a member — but membership unlocks your voice in how SMA is run.

Roles Available
SMA volunteers support a wide range of initiatives, depending on interest, availability, and skillsets. Some of the key roles include:
- Event Support: Help plan and run cultural programs like Onam, Vishu, and Christmas.
- Newcomer Support: Assist international students and new families with settling in.
- Content & Communication: Write, design, or post updates on our website and social media.
- Backstage & Logistics: Manage event setup, tech, or backstage coordination.
- Committee Participation: Be a part of structured teams that run SMA activities.
Whether you enjoy organizing, performing, designing, mentoring, or simply helping - we have space for you.
How to Join
Becoming a volunteer is simple:
- Submit your interest form via the “Join Us” page or contact us directly.
- Tell us your areas of interest — culture, student support, sports, logistics, etc.
- We’ll connect with you via email or phone and guide you through current opportunities.
You do not need to be a paid member to volunteer, but members may receive preference for certain committee roles.
Types of Volunteers Needed
We organize volunteers into active committees based on specific interests:

Organizes friendly matches, tournaments, and athletic events within our community. -
👨🎓 Student Committee
Supports new student arrivals, helps with accommodations, transport, and social events. -
🪔 Cultural Committee
Plans and coordinates events like Onam, Vishu, and other festival celebrations. -
🎨 Arts & Media Committee
Manages decoration, design, photography, stage shows, and promotional content.
You can choose one or more committees depending on your passion and availability.
Volunteer Requirements
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds. To get started, here's what we ask for:
